Mount Taranaki, officially Taranaki Maunga and also known as Mount Egmont, is a dormant stratovolcano in the Taranaki region on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. At 2,518 metres, it is the second highest mountain in the North Island, after Mount Ruapehu.
